We couldn’t be more thrilled to have secured an exciting exhibition this autumn with award-winning British artist, writer and children’s illustrator Jane Ray. We have been huge fans of Jane for over 20 years, ever since she gave us a signed copy of one of her books when our son, Henry, was born. Therefore, we are so excited to welcome her to Harrogate and our new gallery.
The exhibition will take place from 4th September until the 30th in our gallery on Royal Parade and will celebrate Jane’s wonderful work, which spans several decades.
Jane, who was born in London, has illustrated over 60 children’s books and has worked with some of the biggest named authors such as Jeanette Winterson, Carol Ann Duffy and former children’s laureate, Michael Rosen. She has also written and illustrated many of her own books including Ahmed and the Feather Girl, The Dollhouse Party and Can you Catch a Mermaid? She was also the IBBY UK Illustrator nominee for the Hans Christian Andersen Awards in 2018.
The exhibition will include original pieces published by Jane in some of her best-known books, including Zeraffa Giraffa, and some of her most recent works, including The Unicorn Prince and Hummingbird.
If you come to visit our gallery during the exhibition, you will also have the chance to meet Jane, who is travelling from London to support us during this exciting time. We are certain your children will love the exhibition and be inspired by her works of art!
