Marion Rhodes RE (1907-1988) was born in Lockwood, Huddersfield and studied at Huddersfield School of Art, Leeds College of Art and the Central School of Art & Crafts, London. She trained under W P Robins and Robert Austin as a painter and printmaker of landscapes and architectural views. She is best known as an etcher, exhibiting widely during her lifetime at the Royal Academy, Royal Scottish Academy and Paris Salon, winning bronze, silver and gold awards. Her work is represented in several public collections, including the British Museum and the V&A. Huddersfield Art Gallery held a retrospective exhibition of her work in 2006.
